On the afternoon of May 6, 2018 local time, at the invitation of President Joko Widodo of Indonesia, Premier Li Keqiang arrived at the Soekarno–Hatta International Airport in Jakarta by special plane, starting his official visit to Indonesia.
As Li Keqiang walked out of the cabin door, the guard of honor lined up on both sides of the red carpet and saluted to Li Keqiang. Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan of Indonesia and other senior government officials gave warm welcome and greetings to Li Keqiang beside the ramp. H.E. Xiao Qian, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, and H.E. Huang Xilian, Chinese Ambassador to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), also greeted Li Keqiang at the airport.
Li Keqiang expressed that China and Indonesia are important and close neighbors to each other. Since President Xi Jinping's successful visit to Indonesia in 2013, the two countries have been actively integrating development strategies, with fruitful cooperation results yielded in various fields. This year coincides with the 5th anniversary of the establishment of China-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership. My visit this time aims to consolidate political mutual trust, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and enhance the friendship between the two peoples. It is expected that the two sides will make joint efforts to push bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields, in a bid to bring more well-being to the people of both countries.
Li Keqiang noted that the ASEAN is an important partner of China, and this year coincides with the 15th anniversary of the establishment of strategic partnership between China and the ASEAN. China is willing to work with all ASEAN states including Indonesia to seize opportunities, push for the realization of greater development of China-ASEAN relations and cooperation and jointly build a community of shared future with neighboring countries, so as to boost regional peace, stability and development.
During his visit in Indonesia, Li Keqiang will hold talks with President Joko Widodo, plant together a tree of friendship, witness the signing of cooperation documents between the two sides, jointly meet the press, as well as meet with Vice President Jusuf Kalla and jointly attend China-Indonesia Business Summit. Li Keqiang will also visit the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, meet with ASEAN Secretary-General Dato Lim Jock Hoi and attend celebration activities marking the 15th anniversary of the establishment of China-ASEAN strategic partnership.
State Councilor and Secretary-General of the State Council Xiao Jie, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Director of the National Development and Reform Commission He Lifeng as well as other delegation members arrived by the same plane.
