Xi Jinping pointed out that for a period of time, Japan has constantly released positive information on its relations with China and taken positive measures. China expresses affirmation in this regard. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the signing of the China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship, and China-Japan relations are at a crucial juncture of inheriting the past and ushering the future. Both sides should review the spirit of the China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship, abide by the principles set forth in the four political documents between China and Japan and implement four-point principled consensus. Both sides should live up to their commitments, act according to the rules and well manage contradictions and differences, so as to ensure that China-Japan relations return to the right track and achieve new progress. It is hoped that Japan will work with China to focus on the overall situation from a long-term perspective as well as make decisions that conform to the fundamental interests of both countries and are conducive to regional development, in a bid to ensure that bilateral relations will always move forward along the right direction.
Shinzo Abe said that Japan attaches great importance to developing its relations with China. Japan stands ready to take the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Japan-China Treaty of Peace and Friendship as an opportunity to push forward bilateral relations for comprehensive improvement and development.
Xi Jinping expounded China's views and propositions regarding the current situation on the Korean Peninsula at inquiry. Xi Jinping pointed out that not long ago, the leaders of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Republic of Korea held a meeting in Panmunjom and issued a joint declaration, which China welcomes. As a close neighbor of the Korean Peninsula, China remains committed to safeguarding peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula and solving issues through dialogue and negotiation. China is willing to work with all sides to seek comprehensive and balanced solutions to respective concerns through dialogue and negotiation, and jointly push for the realization of everlasting peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula and the region. It is hoped that Japan will also play a constructive role to this end.
Shinzo Abe expressed that Japan welcomes the positive changes emerging on the Korean Peninsula situation and supports peaceful solutions to the issue through dialogue. Japan highly values China's important role in solving the Korean Peninsula issue and hopes to strengthen communication with China.
